SACS Overview
In 2008, GCSC began preparations for an institutional self-study in support of its application for reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in the year 2010. Based on the underlying assumption that an outstanding college can continue to be outstanding only by continuously monitoring current performance and effectively planning for the future, GCSC conducted an extensive review of its practices and performance.
The Compliance Audit provides an opportunity for the college to determine how well it is currently functioning in all areas, using the Criteria for Accreditation as the acceptability threshold. The audit is intended to help the institution identify areas of strength as well as areas where improvements are needed to ensure that the college’s constituents are served in a high-quality manner.
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) allows the college greater flexibility in conceiving and carrying out a project to enhance quality in an area of particular relevance to the institution. The QEP is a transformative campus process that is anchored in student learning and is directed toward enhancing the climate for student learning.
