Procedure and Guidelines for Mentors on Angel

The Angel Learning Management System provides capabilities for college “mentors” to be apprised of their students’ progress in courses by providing access to students grades, course calendars, assignments and lessons so that the “mentor” may encourage students to be actively engaged in their courses. The system only allows the “mentor” to view items related to the mentored student’s work in the course.

Mentors must apply following the procedure and guidelines for mentors on Angel.

Iowa Western Community College --
"Student athletes at the college allow coaches to access their academic records,” said Murch-Shafer. "Access to student records is easy in ANGEL but our IT Department wanted to ensure students’ private information was secure.” That’s when Murch-Shafer thought of ANGEL’s Mentor Insight Window. Conventionally used in K-12 settings, ANGEL’s Mentor Insight Window provides parents, mentors, advisors – and now coaches – a secure view into student grades, lessons, assignments and course calendars and gives them the ability to easily communicate with instructors.

"Coaches’ requests for status updates from faculty members have been drastically reduced if not eliminated.”
