Computer – Basics
With this simplified, “hands-on” approach, you can resolve your computer phobias and learn to use the keyboard, mouse, and a variety of computer programs. This course will focus on the essentials of Microsoft Windows, including saving and locating documents.

Seasonal Flower Arranging
In this relaxed and interactive class, students will learn how to arrange different materials, including fresh flowers, silk flowers, and natural plants local to this area. Participants will have the opportunity to bring materials and make their own arrangements for display. Other class exercises will include arrangements for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Bird Watching & Identification
In this introductory course, suitable for students of all skill levels, students will become familiar with the basic tools and identification skills needed to enjoy a wide array of birdlife. Students will learn where, when, and how to identify birds; use of the basic tools of birding; and receive guidance on developing bird watching skills.

Drawing I
This is a two-session courses and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Intended for beginners, this two-hour exploratory course will examine gesture and contour drawing, shading and value, composition, color, texture, and more. Participants will become familiar with the materials, techniques, and elements of drawing while learning to identify and express their personal style. Supply list will be available during registration.

Beginning Digital Photography
For anyone who wonders what all those buttons are for. Find out as we discuss and explore; pixels, memory, resolution, downloading to your computer, printing, sending e-mails, and jpgs. Bring your cameras and questions!

Discover the benefits and techniques of journal writing! Workshop discussions and exercises, designed for beginning as well as experienced writers, will follow the creative writing process from inspiration to finished product.

Prerequisite: Computer – Basics
Manage and organize documents and folders using Windows Explorer. Create desktop shortcuts and perform general PC maintenance, including defragment and disk cleanup.

Home Decorating Basics
Student will learn to analyze upholestry and drapery treatments including: recognizing quality work, correct fabric usage, determining yardage, what’s hot today, and how that relates to your design situations.

Watercolor
This is a two-session course and will be held from 9:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Participants will explore the dynamic nature and spirit of watercolor. Discover a variety of watercolor processes through short lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. Basic watercolor materials will be required.

Advanced Digital Photography
Learn to edit problem photos, discuss better composition, and shoot on location using more advanced camera settings and techniques! Students need to be familiar with their camera and computer. Bring your camera, manual, batteries, charger, memory cards, tripod (if you have one) and be ready to shoot, every day.

Gardening
Join our gardeners enhancement program and learn more about gardening in North Florida. Topics to be discussed are: Soil Chemistry, Wildflowers, Container and Square Foot Gardening, Recommended Fruit Varieties, Butterfly Gardening, Shiitake Mushroom Production, and Salt Tolerant Shrubs for North Florida.

Conversational Spanish
Knowing Spanish can prove helpful in travel. Learn useful phrases and simple ways to communicate with Spanish speaking people. You will need a textbook and an English- Spanish dictionary. Supply list will be available at registration.

Computer – E-mail & Internet
Prerequisite: Basic Computer or equivalent
Learn about the various uses of the Internet, how to get
connected, and effectively search for topics of interest. Classmates will send and receive e-mail, as well as gain a better understanding of e-mail issues and procedures.

During this one-hour class, we will explore the elements of drawing with a focus on creating finished works. Paricipants are encouraged to bring in their own projects as well as participate in class exercises. Supply list will be available during registration.

Yoga
Through the basic principles of Hatha Yoga, students will experience breathing, meditation, and physical exercises. Upon completion of the program, students will have knowledge of basic yoga postures and will be able to practice them on their own. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Fishing Techniques
This course will cover all the basics of saltwater/freshwater fishing as well as different types of tackle and equipment required to catch multiple species of fish. Other topics covered will be the different methods of rigging, baits required for freshwater, surf, wade, flats, and bottom fishing.
