Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT-CCC)

AREA OF CONCENTRATION: The Nuclear Medicine Technology
College Credit Certificate is available as an online program and is intended for qualified allied
health professionals with Associates Degrees and who
maintains a professional license.
A selective admissions policy
with specific selection criteria is utilized in order to select the
most qualified applicants. The strength of the applicant pool
varies year-to-year, with the best qualified applicants
receiving first consideration.
It is the applicant's responsibility
to inquire about these specific admission and selection criteria
and to ensure that all required documents are received on
campus prior to the deadline of July 15th
each year.
Upon
completion of the 14-month full-time program, the
student will be eligible to take the American Registry of
Radiologic Technologist Nuclear Medicine Examination
and/or
the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
Examination.
To apply for this program of study, students should obtain a
program application packet from the Health
Sciences Division containing a current listing of admission and course
requirements.
Admission Requirements:
Application to Nuclear Medicine Technology Program includes:
- New students should apply for General Admission to Gulf Coast State College <click here>
- New students must pay $20 college application fee online, at our Bookstore, or at the GCSC Business Office
- Submit Nuclear Medicine Program application, including the Technical Standards form <click here>
- Possess an Associate's Degree in an allied health care
profession and hold a current professional license
- Complete additional required General Education
courses with a "C" or better
- Submit official high school transcript or copy of GED
with scores to the Admissions Office
- Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended and have evaluation
completed by Admissions Office
- Schedule an advising session with the Medical Imaging Programs Coordinator.
The program begins in the Fall semester each year. The
deadline for submission of the completed application package
is July 15th or until the class is full. The program employs a selective admission process
whereby applicants are chosen based on a composite
admissions score. Applicants who meet all minimum
requirements for admission are evaluated for their
preparedness to enter the program.
Four areas are
considered:
- Number of required General Education courses
successfully completed
- Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.5
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
- Hold a professional license in an allied health care field
Requirements after conditional acceptance:
- Satisfactory fingerprint / criminal background check
completed by GCSC, at the student's expense
- Copy of current valid CPR card; acceptable cards are from either the American
Heart Association Healthcare Provider or the American Red Cross CPR for the
Professional Rescuer
- Submit original, completed GCSC Physical Examination with satisfactory
results signed by a physician
- Submit original, completed GCSC Immunization records including Hepatitis-B
series or signed Declination waiver
- Submit proof of current TB skin test or TB blood test within the past year, or Declination with current chest x-ray report
All courses must be completed with a "C" or better.
