Technical Standards

RESPIRATORY THERAPIST

The following technical skills are required of the Respiratory Therapy student for successful practice in the clinical area of the program.

Psychomotor Skills

1. Vision - normal, corrected
2. Hearing - normal, corrected or aid able
3. Touch - average tactile sensitivity

Physical Endurance - Students must be able to:

1. Lift, with assistance, 150 pounds
2. Manage, unassisted, a 200 pound patient
3. Stand for several hours
4. Work for three hours without a break
5. Successfully complete a CPR certification course

Communication Skills - The student must demonstrate:

1. The ability to interact and verbally communicate with others
2. Knowledge of basic spelling, writing, and grammar skills

I have read the above and feel that it is within my ability to carry out the duties, responsibilities and qualifications of a Respiratory Therapist.
