POSITION
TITLE: |
Director, Nursing (Pending Budgetary Approval) |
REPORTS TO: |

BASIC FUNCTION: |
Organizes, administers, reviews, and assures effectiveness of all nursing programs
Coordinates strategic planning and participates in budget planning for nursing programs
Coordinates program efforts in achieving and maintaining NLN accreditation
Develops and implements an assessment plan that identifies benchmarks for the measurement of outcomes in relation to the mission statement and goals, and uses results for program improvement.
Encourages curricular and academic practices which promote the synthesis of theory, use of current technology, competent clinical practice, and professional values.
Provides academic, behavioral, and clinical advisement to enrolled and prospective students
Safeguards the health and safety of students through the implementation of published policies and procedures that are in compliance with Florida Board of Nursing regulations and the National League of Nursing, as well as those with regard to workplace hazards, harassment, communicable diseases, and substance abuse.
Demonstrates integrity in representations to communities of interest and the public, in pursuit of educational excellence, and in treatment of and respect for students, faculty, and staff. |

| RESPONSIBILITIES: |
- Coordinates all BSN, RN and LPN program matters, including but not limited to curriculum development and review, student advisement and registration, transcript evaluation and graduation procedures.
- Pursues innovative means to assure continued success of all nursing programs, including program development and evaluation, curriculum innovation and resource management.
- Provides leadership for BSN, RN and LPN faculty. Orients new adjunct and full-time nursing faculty. Prepares faculty instructional assignments each term according to criteria in Manual of Policy.
- Prepares class schedules each term; maintains master plan for clinical schedule with other agencies.
- Maintain formal communications with clinical agencies, community groups and other nursing programs. Prepares and distributes master clinical schedule each term, and coordinates clinical agency staff / faculty planning meetings.
- Prepares departmental budget annually. Monitors budgets and makes adjustments as needed. Reviews and submits request for books, audio-visual, CAI purchases and equipment purchases, and monitors campus lab supply orders and annual nursing department equipment inventory.
- Serves as a member of nursing program Admissions Committee. Reviews files, prepares materials for transfer applicants and re-admission applicants to present to nursing admissions committee. Serves as advisory member for background screening appeal hearings.
- Schedules and coordinates (with chair of committee) nursing Advisory Committee meetings. Corresponds and communicates with committee members as needed regarding committee activities, makes recommendations to the President annually regarding advisory committee membership.
- Coordinates review and revision of all nursing program handbooks and catalog changes annually.
- Prepares annual report for Florida State Board of Nursing, Southern Regional Education Board and National League for Nursing. Maintains all student documentation associated with accreditation requirements.
- Assists with recruitment activities.
- Prepares or assists in preparation of grant proposals for department.
- Coordinates planning / implementation of the annual pinning ceremony for nursing graduates.
- Maintains assigned instructional load.
- Advises and delegates tasks for coordinators and assistant coordinators.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Interviews and makes recommendations to Health Sciences Division chair regarding prospective faculty.
- Conducts full-time and adjunct faculty evaluations.
- Provides leadership and mentoring activities to faculty and students.
- Reviews clinical agency contracts annually.
- Conducts on-going program assessment, and evaluates and assures effectiveness of clinical education.
- Assumes leadership role in the continued development of the program.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: |
Doctorate in Nursing (DNS, DNP or Ph.D.). Proficiency in curriculum design and program administration. Documented equivalent of three years full-time experience in the discipline, and a current FL RN license (
Active Registered Nursing License from the Florida Board of Nursing, BCLS, and Health Certifications required for Florida Licensure (HIPAA, Domestic Violence, HIV-AIDS, Medical Errors & Infection Control)). Two years each of nursing education and managment experience preferred. |
