CLAST Exam All Florida community college students seeking an AA degree must satisfy the CLAST requirement before their degree is awarded. The CLAST measures college-level communications and math skills and is part of the state's overall effort to ensure students have acquired the skills expected in those areas. The CLAST test is one of three alternatives a student can use to demonstrate mastery of college level competencies required by Florida statutes and rules of the State Board of Education. In accordance with Rule 6A-10.0311, F.A.C., Section 1008.29, F.S., students may not need to take the CLAST if they do not plan to major in education in the state of Florida. The essay portion of the test is given three times a year on the Gulf Coast campus and students must register before taking the exam. There is no fee for current students to take the CLAST. Students must complete the application before the deadline. The mathematics, sentence skills, and reading portions of the test are given on computer and are available for students on the dates and times listed below. Please contact the testing office in Student Union 60 prior to the test date or by calling 872-3856.
