Certified Nursing Assistant, V.C.

Program Overview

This certificate program is designed to provide you with the education and skill level necessary to qualify for the state Certified Nursing Assistant exam. You may take the two courses for this training (165 clock hours) at both the Gulf/Franklin Campus in Port St. Joe and the Panama City Campus.

The Certified Nursing Assistant program is a selective admission, limited enrollment program. Admission to Gulf Coast State College does not imply acceptance into the Certified Nursing Assistant program.

A six week CNA program is offered at both Gulf/Franklin and Panama City Campuses during the summer. You are expected to attend class and clinical labs four to five days per week.

The Gulf/Franklin Campus also offers a Hybrid CNA program that begins each January. This hybrid option will take approximately four months to complete. You are expected to attend one class session each week for lecture and hands-on skills.

The summer Gulf/Franklin Campus CNA curriculum is presented in the first two courses of the Practical Nursing (PN) program. If any PN program students already have CNA credentials, their seats in the first two courses may become available to someone seeking CNA training only.

Upon successful completion of the CNA program, you will be eligible to take the state examination to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). If you earn a CNA certificate you will be eligible for advanced placement into the PN program in the future, if you are interested in continuing their education.
