Are you ready to work in one of the fastest growing fields of safety and security? Becoming a private security office may be perfect for you.  Security officers work to protect people and property and also deal with emergencies. You don’t need a degree to start working in the private security field, but a good general education will be helpful. You will need a Class D license from the Florida Department of  Agriculture and Consumer Services  to work in the State of Florida.  A security officer needs to be mature and responsible. It will also help if you are a polite and helpful person.

Getting a Private Security Officer Certification is an important way to fast-track your career. The Florida Research and Economic Information Database Application projects a 20.1 percent increase in the private security officer field between 2015 and 2023

Who is eligible for private security program?

According to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, you must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.  You must be a citizen or legal resident alien of the United States or have been granted authority to work in this country by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS). You must also provide a current resident address; a P.O. Box is not considered a residence.
