Therapeutic Recreation Option, AA

You Can Help Improve the Wellness and Health of Others With Activities They Enjoy.

As a recreational therapist, you will have the choice of working in medical and non-medical settings, indoors and/or outdoors. You will help people will disabilities, injuries or illnesses get reacquainted and engaged in everyday life through structured recreational means such as art, games, sports and music. 

The purpose of this transfer track is to prepare you for a career in leisure services. Four-year universities and colleges offer a variety of leisure services programs including resort and commercial recreation, corporate and industrial recreation, fitness management, municipal and county recreation, therapeutic recreation and teacher certification. We offer the necessary prerequisites for the state of Florida university baccalaureate programs.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for recreational therapists was $45,890.
