Employees - Getting Started with Technology
- Activate Your College Access
College Network - College employees receive network access based on the requirements of their position. New employees will be directed to complete the Network/Phone Authorization process. This process will address email, phone, Wi-Fi, and Pay4Print.
email Access - A gulfcoast.edu email address is created for all full-time employees and adjuncts. Full-time employees will get their email when an ITS technician sets up their Network Access profile. Adjuncts will receive their email address from their division chair. View the process for adjuncts and the division chairs.
Banner 9 Admin Forms Access - The need for Banner access is determined by your role at Gulf Coast State College. View the process for determining roles.
Lighthouse - This is the name of the Internet side of our administrative software system. All employees will have access to payroll information by using the Employee tab in Lighthouse. Based on your role at GCSC, you may also have other tabs available. View information on logging in to Lighthouse.
Telephone - Full-time employees will have their phone setup as needed when the ITS technician sets up their Network Access profile on their computer. View more information on how to use the phone system.
Wi-Fi-GCSC - has wireless access on all campuses. Employees will be able to use the college Wi-Fi by logging in with their network credentials.
- Getting Familiar with Security
Antivirus Software - MS Forefront Endpoint virus protection is available on all employee computers. Follow instructions to keep your computer virus free.
Confidential Information - All employees are responsible for protecting the student and employee information. emails are considered public record. See FERPA information.
Copyright Assistance - Avoid copyright violations by understanding the rules.
Encryption Software - If it is necessary to store or email sensitive data, encrypt the file using Kryptel.
Malware Removal - Malware programs steal information from and cause damage to your computer. Protect your computer and data by running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removal software.
Reporting an Incident - Misuse of college computer or data is everyone’s concern. Report concerns to protect all of our data.
Security training is required of all employees at Gulf Coast State College annually. Network access will not be provided until the training is completed. This training has information on FERPA, securing data, and policies on using the network. Get a brief overview of what the training entails. Contact the Technical Support desk for more information.
Important: GCSC will NEVER request username, password, or any personal information through email. Call the Technical Support desk at 850-913-3303 to report any suspicious emails.

Equipment Checkout - Equipment may be checked out for college related activities. View a list of equipment available and the checkout process.
Repairs - For assistance contact Technical Support at 850-913-3303 or submit a ticket for the repair by going to the ITS Website and clicking the link “Submit Ticket Request.”
Technology Hardware/Software Purchase Request - If you are interested in purchasing technology with your department budget, submit the information to ITS to ensure it will work with the current infrastructure and we will look for quotes to get you the best price. Audio Visual Events Support - Full-time employees may request equipment and support for audio visual events.
Copiers - College copiers are available on all campuses. View instructions on how to use the copier.
GCSC Mobile App - Download the free GCSC Mobile App to view campus maps, college calendar, and more.
Gulf Coast Alert System - Sign up to receive text alerts and/or emails for safety advisories or information on upcoming events.

Audio Visual Events Support – Full-time employees may request equipment and event support through our FreshService Ticketing System.
