Before you can begin using PortalGuard (PG)/myGCSC, you must first log in and enroll.
NOTE:  Questions about 2 factor authentication.

GETTING STARTED WITH MYGCSC LOGIN - “FIRST TIME LOG IN”

  1. https://mygcsc.gulfcoast.edu or https://mygcsc.gulfcoast.edu/SSO myGCSC login
  2. Enter your username

    Note: Depending on status of user the username will be different

    For GCSC Employees: login with your Employee email username (all characters before the @ symbol) and default email password (Provided by the Technical Support team)

    For GCSC Students and Student Workers: login with you Student ID (A00#) and default password (Provided by the Admissions and Records team)
  3. Enter your current password and click <Log On>.

    Once logged into https://mygcsc.gulfcoast.edu
    • Click continue
      Enrollment - Challenge Answers
    • Select your security questions

      NOTE: You may not have any matching answers to your security questions and the answers must be at least 4 characters long

  4. After entering your username and password information and setting up your security questions, you will first be prompted to enter a personal cell phone number.

    NOTE: The following steps are optional features, however, one of the options has to selected. If you do not wish to receive messages or reminders by mobile device or personal email please select one or both Permanently Suppress Reminders.
  5. Enrollment – Mobile Phone is to assist with resetting a user’s password or unlock a user’s account through myGCSC and can also be used as a secondary verification when logging into an account.

    A One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to your mobile device. Upon receipt, please enter the OTP in the text box provided, click <Continue>.

    NOTE: Be careful when entering the temporary password. It is case-sensitive and could contain letters and numbers.

  6. If you entered the correct temporary password you will receive the above message. Click the link "Click here to try to continue logging in."
  7. You will now be prompted to enter an alternate or personal email address. This is any email address other than your my.gulfcoast.edu address (such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc.). After entering your alternate email, click <Continue>.

    NOTE: If you do not wish to receive messages or reminders please select Permanently Suppress Reminders.

    Enrollment-Email Address

    A One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to your alternate email of choice. Upon receipt, please enter the OTP in the text box provided, click <Continue>.

  8. Upon receiving the above message, click the link "Click here to try to continue logging in."
  9. After successfully registering your cell phone and alternative email, you will see the Account Management home page. You can log in any time and update this information as needed. Notice that the cell phone number and alternative email address is displayed.
  10. You will then be taken to the following page where you login to Canvas, GCSC-Home Lighthouse and much more depending on status.

CHANGE PASSWORD - KNOW MY PASSWORD BUT WANT/NEED TO CHANGE IT.

  1. Now let’s suppose a user wants to update a known myGCSC password. Since you have registered your cell phone and/or alternative email, myGCSC can help you reset your password.

    From any browser, type the following URL https://mygcsc.gulfcoast.edu

  2. Provide your username and click <Change Password>

    For GCSC Employees: Username is the first part of Employee email (all characters before the @ symbol) (Provided by the Technical Support team)
    For GCSC Students and Student Workers: Username is the Student ID (A00#Provided by the Admissions and Records team)
  3. Provide the known password and click <Continue>.
  4. Enter your desired new password and confirm it. Click <Change Password>.

  5. In the event that your new password is not strong enough you will receive the above message. Your new password must meet the following criteria:
    • At least 8 characters in length
    • Contain at least one lower case letter
    • Contain at least one upper case letter
    • Contain at least one number
    • Contain at least one special character

Enter a new password and confirm it. Click <Set Password>. You should now be able to log into myGCSC, Canvas, Gulf Coast State College email, or the GCSC Wireless using your new password.

USER SELF SERVICE - CAN’T REMEMBER PASSWORD AND NEED TO CHANGE IT.

Now let’s suppose a user cannot remember their myGCSC password and need to reset it. From any web browser (Mobile web or type the following URL: https://mygcsc.gulfcoast.edu

  1. Provide your username and click <Self Service>.

    For GCSC Employees: Username is the first part of Employee email (all characters before the @ symbol) (Provided by the Technical Support team)
    For GCSC Students and Student Workers: Username is the Student ID (A00#Provided by the Admissions and Records team)

  2. Select "Reset Forgotten Password" and click <Continue>.
  3. If you are sure you remember your password but your account has become locked (possibly because of unsuccessful login attempts), you may select "Unlock Account". However, if it is more likely you cannot remember your password, select "Reset Forgotten Password" and click <Continue>.
  4. If a user’s has set up the account already with both challenge and secondary notification options
    1. Chose “3 Challenge Answers” to answer 3 of the 5 question set up and create a new password. OR
    2. Chose “One-Time Password to have a one-time temporary code sent to the mobile phone or alternative email address.
  5. Once you receive your one-time temporary code, enter it carefully and click <Continue>.
  6. If you entered the correct temporary password, you will receive notification. Click the link "Click here to try to continue logging in".
  7. Enter your new password, and click <Login>.

USER SELF SERVICE – HOW TO ENABLE A LOCKED ACCOUNT.

  1. A user is sure of their password but after a few attempts realize that the account is disabled.

    NOTE: This is not referring to reaching the maximum number of unsuccessful login attempts on myGCSC. If however, the message appears for maximum attempts await the 5 minute timeout before attempting to log in or attempt to reset the user password.
  2. From any web browser type the following URL: https://mygcsc.gulfcoast.edu

    Provide your username and click <Self Service>.

  3. Select "Reset Forgotten Password" and click <Continue>.
  4. If you are sure you remember your password but your account has become locked, Select "Unlock Account".
