- Humanities Areas I, II & III - see catalog for course options
- Biological Science - see catalog for course options
- Social Sciences Areas I, II, & III – see catalog for course options
- Any Bachelor’s degree in chemistry will require a Physics Sequence. Many universities require University Physics (which will require Calculus III) while some require College Physics. It is highly recommended that the student use the elective credits to satisfy some of these requirements.
Recommended academic map assumes:
- Readiness for college-level English
- Readiness for Calculus I
- Readiness for General Chemistry
- No previous credit earned
Note: Organic Chemistry sequence may be replaced by
Student MUST know the course requirements for the university they plan to attend.
Any advanced degree in chemistry will require a physics sequence and more math courses.
For example, (1) College Physics I & II with labs (PHY 2053, PHY 2054, PHY 2053L
and PHY 2054L may substitute for University Physics for some programs (2) Differential
Equations (MAP 2302) is required by many universities

1University Physics is required for advanced degrees in chemistry.
2GCSC strongly recommends that students pursuing a chemistry transfer track complete the chemistry sequence through CHM2211 before transferring.
• General Education Core. Students must complete at least one identified core course in each area of study—Communications, Humanities, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences—as part of the general education course requirements.
+ Prerequisites and/or corequisites required. See course descriptions.
* Minimum grade of "C" required.
