Millaway Institute for Entrepreneurship

Millaway Institute LogThe Millaway Institute for Entrepreneurship (MIE) supports our community of innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs—engaging students, faculty and staff—as they explore the transformation of ideas into commercial products, services and companies.

Do you have an idea?

The Millaway Institute for Entrepreneurship (MIE) may be able to help you with your invention or product. You can prototype your ideas and designs with the FabLab’s 3D printers and high-end fabrication equipment inside Gulf Coast State College’s Advanced Technology Center in Panama City, Florida. While we may not be able to help everyone, we do focus on those ideas that engage our students and contain the potential to create local jobs. We are happy to discuss how we may be able to assist with the following:

  • Prototyping and fabrication of an invention
  • Assisting you with who to contact for intellectual property, patents, trademarks, etc.
  • Connecting you with a variety of resources in our area entrepreneurial ecosystem

If we cannot directly assist you with your idea, we are happy to help you figure out who and where you can turn to for the help you need.

Site Visits

Part of the Millaway Institute’s mission is to attract area students into STEAM programs (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) offered at Gulf Coast State College. If you’re a teacher or administrator in Bay, Gulf or Franklin counties (or in the Florida Panhandle), contact us to request a site visit. We can show your students hands-on robotics, electronics and 3D printing demonstrations both inside a mobile trailer and/or inside a classroom (for up to 30 participants at a time). While we are not always available, we are happy to explore potential dates and times for these site visits.
