Gulf Coast hosts 60th Anniversary Community Celebration
This year marks the 60th anniversary of Gulf Coast State College serving Bay, Gulf and Franklin counties. To say “thank you” for the continuous support over the decades, the College is hosting a “60th Anniversary Community Celebration” on Saturday, September 16, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Everyone is invited to join Gulf Coast for a fun-filled afternoon with free food, giveaways, games, live music and a classic car show. Enjoy a cookout with hamburgers, hotdogs, snow cones and cotton candy, along with bounce houses, face painting and activities for kids of all ages. There will be a concert on the green featuring the Mike Thompson Band. The Gulf Coast State College Foundation will also be joining in on the celebration as this year marks their 50th anniversary, and the Alumni Association will display archived photos and music from each decade, from the 1950s to the 2010s, and alumni can sign the memory book.
Additionally, faculty, staff and students will showcase the innovative and exciting programs that the College has to offer, including Unmanned Vehicle Systems demonstrations (ground and air vehicles) and static displays of GCSC Public Safety vehicles (fire truck, ambulance and police car) just to name a few.
The “60th Anniversary Community Celebration” will be held Saturday, September 16, from 4:00–8:00 p.m. at Gulf Coast State College’s Main Campus in Panama City. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the live music. All members of the community are invited to this family-friendly free event.
