archive: GCSC's Culinary School Ranked Third Best in Florida
Gulf Coast State College’s Culinary Management program has been ranked the third best culinary school in Florida by Best Choice Schools in the “Top 10 Best Culinary Schools in Florida 2016-2017” report.
The Florida culinary scene employs nearly one million people and is responsible for nearly 14% of the employment in the state, according to restaurant.org. The demand is strong, with a projected increase of almost 173,000 jobs by 2026. GCSC was selected based on the solid program offerings, professional experiences for students and their accreditation by the American Culinary Federation.
GCSC’s culinary students receive hands-on training in the kitchen classroom and in the John Holley Dining Room, where they serve guests the meals they prepared for their classes. In addition to kitchen skills, students also learn about food purchasing, pricing menus, supervising employees and designing nutritional meal plans.
