April Wilson-Page is a full-time Assistant Professor in the Nursing Department. She teaches Medical-Surgical Nursing courses. She received her Associate of Arts and Associate of Science in Nursing from Gulf Coast Community College more than twenty-five years ago and began her practice on a Medical-Surgical floor at a local hospital. This lead to an interest in the areas of Acute Care, Critical Care, Ambulatory Care, Perioperative Care, Gastroenterology and Clinical Instruction. Interest in the interplay between health and illness, renal failure, and diabetes mellitus, lead to more than a decade of Nephrology nursing.
After becoming more adept in critical care, April developed a strong desire to learn more about nursing research, to lower mortality rates and to have a positive impact on the profession of nursing. She returned to college and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University, Florida. She has worked in many areas within the profession of nursing and developed a broad area of expertise. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University St. Louis, Missouri and is a Nurse Practitioner.
Outside of work, April loves live music, watching the sunset on the beach, reading, writing and spending time with her family. During the summertime, she works as a Nurse Practitioner and volunteers at a local medical clinic. Not to forget, spending time with Jazzie the miniature poodle and Loca the gran-cat which never fails to bring comic relief at the end of a long day.
