Position Title:  Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Chemistry Lab Manager

Reports To:

Division Chair

Basic Function:

Two-thirds of this job is teaching chemistry courses - both lecture and laboratory. One-third of this job is managing the chemistry laboratory to ensure that the necessary chemicals and equipment are available for all the lab courses. Course manager for assigned chemistry courses 




1. Instruction for lecture and lab courses (12 contact hours)
2. Office hours (10 hours per week)
3. Course development/enhancement
4. Laboratory management
5. Academic advising
6. Safety officer
7. Serving on committees as assigned

Other Duties:

1. Student evaluation (grading & test preparation)
2. Laboratory management to include training and supervising student lab assistants, lab setup, solution preparation, ordering supplies and equipment, chemical inventory, and waste disposal.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Train and supervise student lab assistants in the chemistry lab.
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A Master's degree in chemistry along with safety and hazardous waste management experience.


     *Degrees must be from a Regionally Accredited Institution to qualify for position.
