Position Title:  Digital Initiatives Librarian

Reports To:

 Director; Library Services

Basic Function:

 Job duties include but are not limited to assisting patrons to discover, access, evaluate, and use information resources. Incumbent will also coordinate the digital presence of Library Services through the website, SpringShare, and other web-based library services products, database interfaces, and the Learning Management System. Other duties as assigned.

Classification:

 Professional; 12 month Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage learning objects to integrate information literacy competency across the curriculum
  • Recommend purchase and selective withdrawal of materials for assigned areas consistent with the Library Collection Development Policy
  • Create and maintain library guides and LMS modules related to assigned liaison areas
  • Collect, analyze, and report quantitative and qualitative data gathered from various sources including library systems, vendor statistics, observations, surveys, and web analytics
  • Maintain and update the library website to provide reliable online access to library services
  • Apply advanced web technologies to the development of the library website
  • Manage interface services to provide integrated access to the library's resources
  • Adopt efficient and productive workflows; track and report on progress on projects or identified issues; monitor and maintain accurate information regarding library technology issues, projects, and other activities
  • Conduct studies, surveys, and evaluation of services in support of the user experience
  • Work closely with the College ITS Department and other relevant groups to coordinate library projects and services with campus-wide systems and goals
  • Support the development of training and resources on the most effective utilization of current and emerging technologies to increase staff competencies
  • Pursue professional development opportunities to stay abreast of advances in the field of library information technology
  • Propose and manage projects related to optimizing the use of emerging library technologies
  • Ensure user-centric services for information access and discovery, including marketing and creating tools such as widgets
  • Manage all modules on the SpringShare platform (LibGuides, LibCal, LibAnswers, LibInsight, etc.)
  • Provide one-on-one library skills instructions and assist patrons in using library classification schemes, online catalog, electronic journals, electronic databases, and other resources
  • Assist patrons face to face or via telephone, email, or chat during assigned hours
  • Supervise library operations during evening and weekend shifts including resolving patron account issues, supervising the work of student assistants, troubleshooting minor computer and equipment issues, and opening and closing the building including monitoring the cash register
  • Participate in College-wide action teams and other activities, particularly related to digital initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Master's Degree in Library Science from a regionally accredited Institution of higher learning that is also accredited by the American Library Association.

**Degrees must be from a Regionally Accredited Institution to qualify for position.

Starting Salary:

 $40k-45k/Annually (commensurate with education and experience)
