Position Title:  Professional Chef Adjunct Instructor

Reports To:

 Program Coordinator of Culinary and Hospitality

Basic Function:

Responsibilities include teaching culinary courses such as described in the Culinary Management Associate of Science program. Prepare & deliver relevant & current curriculum using a variety of teaching methods & standardized tools which accurately reflect effectiveness of culinary course.


Part -Time Adjunct


  • This position is part time, but will require a full commitment of professional attention and effort.
  • Working closely with the established faculty team while promoting a positive student experience.
  • Teach culinary courses as described in the Culinary Management Associate of Applied Science program.
  • Deliver relevant and current curriculum using a variety of teaching methods and standardized tools which accurately reflect effectiveness of culinary course content.
  • Measure student understanding of course content in an objective fashion and maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement, and performance in accordance with college policies and procedures.
  • Ensure program compliance with FLDOE policies/GCSC strategic plan and other GCSC policies.
  • Ensure program compliance with our ACFEI Accreditation.
  • Office hours are spent helping students with lecture material and lab work outside of class, reading and returning emails, returning phone calls, and working to improve the course (s) materials and methods of delivery to the student, current to high industry standards.
  • Oversee, coach, and guide students through recipes, techniques, professional kitchen operations while executing mock and live service exercises.
  • Develop menus, standardized recipes, submit product order requisitions, perishable product management with extensive product knowledge and understanding.
  • Both accurate and exceptional communication skills with students, faculty and staff.
  • Maintain an exemplary attitude, sanitation standards, and professional personal appearance as a representative of Gulf Coast State College.
  • Understand that additional responsibilities and expectations will be regular and expected in this environment.

Minimum Qualifications:


Minimum qualifications:

  1. Associates of Applied Science (AAS or Associates of Science (AS) Degree in Culinary Arts, with 5 years of Industry experience.
  2. Must have performed in a managerial culinary Brigade position during their industry experience period.
  3. Current Servsafe Management or State recognized Responsible Vendor Certification.
  4. Two years teaching experience in the Hospitality/Culinary Management field of study preferred but not required.

*Degrees must be from a Regionally Accredited Institution to qualify for position.

 **This position is a security sensitive position and will require a criminal background check.

Starting Salary:

 $663.00/Credit Hour
