    Experience four hours of observations, experiments and interactions with Florida's coastal ecology. Spend time observing, examining and researching the bio-diversity of organisms. A busy, but fun-filled morning of working with science tools and exploring all that our coast has to offer awaits you! You will be required to have closed toe water shoes, wear water-safe clothing and bring a towel and bottled water.

    Introduction to building and programming robots using the LEGO Mindstorms NXT Robotics System. Working in pairs, you will practice construction and programming with the NXT Intelligent brick with servo style motors and ultrasonic sensor. You will build a robot and program it with a computer to move, react and make sounds in order to solve your set challenges.

    You have the videos, you have taken all of those pictures -- now what? Bring your favorite device (phone, tablet, etc.) with its USB cord, along with a jump drive, and answer that question! You will learn all about video editing and how to put together special presentations for your family and friends.

BLACK ROCKET CLASSES

Video Game Animation  Register!
Put your game design skills to the test by creating and animating your own character sprites. Start with a name, develop the character’s personality, signature moves, special powers and a story line. Finish with a fully animated character to be used in future games. Students do not need any prior experience in game design, animation or sketching. Student created animations will be available on a password protected website to share with friends and family. Software and games are only compatible on PC computers.

Minecraft Animators  Register!
Bring your favorite Minecraft characters to life in an animated short film! Learn how studios like Pixar and Disney make movies like Inside Out and Frozen through using techniques like keyframing, tweening, texturing and animating rigged 3D models! Student projects will be available on a Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. You do not need to own a Minecraft account to use the software in this class. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Instructor: Robert Heath

Code Breakers  Register!
Calling all future coders, programmers and designers! Learn the basics of coding languages like HTML, JavaScript and CSS through a series of web projects and design challenges each day and be on your way to becoming the next tech star! Whether you want to be the next Mark Zuckerberg or the high school student who just made $1 million dollars for programming in his bedroom, this course has the essentials you need to begin your journey. Projects will be available on a Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Minecraft Designers  Register!
If you love the game Minecraft, but always wanted to design your own characters and buildings for your games this class is for you. Learn the basics of creating 3D modeling using a new industry grade software to design your very own characters and import them into your favorite Minecraft games. Students must have Minecraft PC at home to import characters and parent email address is required to create student accounts. Instructor: Robert Heath

Bricks 4 Kidz Classes

Jurassic Brick Land  Register!
Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Put on your hiking boots and camouflage... You're about to enter Jurassic Brick Land! Campers will build a world that comes to life with gentle Brontosaurus, ferocious velociraptor, terrible T. rex and more. We'll learn about amazing dinosaurs that lived during the Jurassic period and other extinct, prehistoric animals that roamed the earth and swam the seas during that era and millions of years later. Show us your building skills using our specialized project kits! Come learn, build and play at Jurassic Brick Land camp.

Sampling Science

Class is FULL
Science is a way of solving problems and discovering why things happen the way they do. How is water transported through plant stems? Does the color of animals protect them from predators? Does smell affect taste? How much iron is in fruit juices? Come discover the answers to these questions and many more through interactive and hands-on investigations. Participants MUST have closed toe water shoes, swimwear, sunscreen and a towel EACH day.

Marine Science for 7-10 year olds 
Class is FULL
Are you between 7 and 10 years of age? Do you enjoy learning about Marine Biology? If you answered YES to both of these questions, then this is the class for you! Come spend time both in the water and in the lab learning how our marine ecosystem works and how you can protect the animals and organisms within. Students will discover how a submarine sinks and rises, go into St. Andrew’s Bay and collect different species of fish, investigate unique characteristics associated with a squid and many other hands-on activities. Students MUST have closed toe water shoes, swimwear, sunscreen, water and a towel EACH day.

Do you enjoy learning about the amazing habitats found in St. Andrew’s Bay? Are you between the ages of 11 and 14? If you answered yes to both of these questions, then this is the class for you! Come experience a week of hands-on activities, dissections and interactions with Florida’s Coastal Ecology. Just a few of the topics include creating a density tower, see grass beds and their roles as estuaries, micro-organisms of the bay, designing a filter to clean water and dissection of a dogfish shark. Students MUST have closed toe water shoes, swimwear, sunscreen, water and a towel EACH day. Instructor: Kenya Williams
