Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead! Register
S.T.E.A.M. is an exciting and hands-on learning opportunity with a special emphasis on the S.T.E.A.M. curriculum areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). So let’s get moving … full S.T.E.A.M. ahead into the 21st century with LEGO® Robotics, Sciences, Painting, Theater and more.

Sampling Science Register
Embark on a series of science adventures as you learn about science through interactive and hands-on science activities. Discover cool chemical reactions, learn about earth’s environment as well as the space surrounding us, find out how weather is predicted, check out some of the tricks of forensic science, and even explore the local waters. Exciting explorations, delightful discoveries, and wild wonders await!

Minecraft Designers
If you LOVE the game Minecraft, but always wanted to design your own characters and buildings for your games – this class is for you!  Learn the basics of creating 3-D models using new software to design your very own objects, create skins for characters, and import them into your favorite Minecraft games.  To access their project at home, students must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft.  Tablet, phone, and game console version of Minecraft are not compatible.  Parent email address is required to use 3D modeling software.  Students will work in teams for most of the program.

Make Your First Video Game Register
If you LOVE playing video games, this is the class for you!  Make your first video game in this one-of-a-kind class that shows you the keys to designing your first 2-D game.  Conceptualization, play experience, challenge levels, graphics, sounds, and simple coding are just some of the concepts that we’ll explore.  No prior experience necessary, just a desire to have fun.  Student-created games will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family.  Games are only compatible on PC computers; Mac versions can be created after the program for a $15 conversion fee.  Students will work in teams for most of the program.

11-14 year olds

Minecraft Modders Register
Use your favorite game to learn the basics of modding and foundations of programming.  Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mod!  Introductory coding will also be taught through a simulated environment inspired by Minecraft.  Student projects will be available on a Black Rocket website to share with friends and family.  To access their project at home, students must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft.  Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible.  Students will work in teams for most of the program.

App Attack Register
Take the first steps into the world of mobile app design and customize your own game app!  Using a specialized app and game development tool, students will explore the world of web-based apps.  In addition to learning the basics of mobile app design and game development, you will also see firsthand how the world of App publishing functions.  Student-created apps will be accessible on a private site and can be played on any mobile device or computer.  No prior experience is necessary and students do not need to own a smartphone or tablet to take this class.  Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

11-14 year olds

Junior Medics Register
Potential doctors and nurses will be intrigued by investigating organic specimens such as the heart, brain, eyes, and kidneys in this course. Examine the basics of biology and health issues with an emphasis on lifesaving. The marvels of the human body and the power of medical knowledge are the right “prescription” for summer learning. You will also receive CPR/First Aid certification training as a part of this course. This is a hands-on science applications class meant to be an enrichment opportunity for the inquisitive and focused learner. Due to many dissection activities, you must have a good attitude and strictly observe instructor’s guidelines.

Mining and Crafting I Register
Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. At night monsters come out, make sure to build a shelter before that happens. Experience the world of Minecraft with LEGO® Bricks in this fun-filled enrichment engineering class! Kids will start by crafting their shelters and some of the mobs, critters and tools using LEGO® Bricks. Students will face new challenges each day, building models and crafting key elements from the popular Minecraft game.

K - 5th graders

Mining and Crafting II Register
Steve is jumping for joy as he introduces the newest members of his Minecraft® world. Whether your child has attended our first session or not, reward them with the creativity and excitement this new camp has to offer. Campers will be challenged to bring their virtual designs to life by building new mob figures, mosaics and custom models, incorporating LEGO® Bricks. So, are you ready for the challenge?

K - 5th graders

Public Safety Patrol* Register
Experience the world of first responders through virtual training tools, classroom sessions, and hands-on excitement. Law enforcement, fire science, EMT, and more await students for this fast-paced, challenging three-day program.
