If you are interested in promoting and generating interest in products and services, have a creative mind, critical thinking skills, curiosity, an interest in pop culture and consumer motivation, then an Advertising/Public relations track is right for you.

The Advertising market is expected to grow, according to one source, 13% from 2010 to 2020.  Therefore, Advertising graduates are in high demand with plenty of employment opportunities as organizations grow their markets.

AREA OF CONCENTRATION: The purpose of this transfer track is to prepare you for an advanced education at the university level. You are encouraged to be familiar with the admissions requirements at the university you plan to attend.

MEET Patti Woodham

Patti Woodham

I hold undergraduate and graduate degrees from The University of Alabama and Auburn University. In 1988, after 20 years in the advertising and marketing business,  my first job was a Gulf Coast recruiter. I wrote, directed and produced several recruitment and public relations videos, developed many publications, and visited all of the Gulf, Franklin, and Bay County schools.  I am a full-time professor of English and Journalism, and have taught all of the mass communication courses, sponsored the college newspaper, The Gull’s Cry, and English composition and literature.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE Advertising/Public Relations OPTION, LIBERAL ARTS A.A. PROGRAM?

If you are a high school graduate, you can apply to this program.

If you have earned credits from a regionally accredited college or university, you may have a head start at Gulf Coast State College.
