English for Academic Purposes: Reading 6

Prerequisite: Option for students who score below the prescribed state levels on the placement test for ENC1101 or ENC1101C. Must be passed with a minimum grade of “C.” This is an advanced course for students whose native language is not English. Students develop ability to comprehend and interpret authentic college level texts in content areas by applying appropriate reading strategies.

English for Academic Purposes: Writing 6

(Offered fall and spring). Prerequisite: Option for students who score below the prescribed state levels on the placement test for ENC1101 or ENC1101C. Must be passed with a minimum grade of “C.” This is an advanced composition course in English for speakers of other languages. Students are given intensive practice in the writing of the multi-paragraph essay for the various modes. Emphasis is given to clear and logical development of ideas. Students apply advanced grammar skills and precise vocabulary usage to essay writing.
