Military/Veterans Thanks a Million Campaign

Supporting Our Heroes

Expenses of a college education go beyond tuition – textbooks, fees and more. There are needs and challenges that can affect any student’s ability to successfully complete their educational goals.

Barriers for veteran students can range from reacquainting themselves with academic work, difficulty connecting with classmates and faculty, change from a military environment to a civilian environment, family responsibilities and service-connected disabilities. With all that these students and their families have sacrificed for us, we wanted to do more than just honor them – we felt a duty, an obligation, to support them.

Serving Those Who Sacrificed For Us
Our goal is simple – to provide financial assistance to currently enrolled military/veteran students. Your gifts will help military/veteran students who face unforeseen hardships and ensure they don’t suffer negative impacts on their path to higher education. The types of expenses veterans face include:

Overcoming Any Challenge Or Adversity
The Journal of Postsecondary Education and Disability (2017) published a study of veterans enrolled in community colleges that found: "Many struggled to successfully juggle the demands and expectations of marriage and parenthood, employment, and education. Despite receiving assistance from the Post-9/11 GI Bill . . ., participants struggled to pay bills, including childcare, as well as their everyday expenses. Throughout the semester, participants worked full-time, part-time, and/or odd jobs to 'get by.' For some, competing demands necessitated dropping or discontinuing classes."

The Thanks a Million Campaign's guiding principle is flexibility to defray a variety of expenses, from the everyday to the course related.

Please help the College and Foundation provide an exceptional education for our heroes so that they may realize the American Dream so many of them fought to preserve.
