Discover your inner artist! Continuing Education provides non-credit art classes to adults of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of artistic experience. Learn how to draw, paint, sculpt & more!

In this class, learn to make one-of-a-kind jewelry using liquid enamel and a torch. Emphasis will be on exploration and experimentation, as a variety of applications including layering, over-firing, painting, and sgrafitto will be used to get intense color effects. A variety of cold connections for assembling pieces will be covered, as time permits. Masks will be required while in the classroom. (A $45 supply fee is included).
This 4-week course will teach you how to design your own characters for Comics, Animation, Film and Games. Students will start with rough sketches, slowly refining their ideas into a polished portfolio piece and learn how to bring their stories to life through art.
Learn the techniques of classical drawing, using the proven methods taught by the Renaissance Masters and 19th century French Ateliers. Working with graphite and charcoal, students will learn how to draw with correct proportions and refined shading techniques. Students start with beginning exercises, and progress to chiaroscuro shapes and cast drawing eventually leading to drawing a live, clothed model. Supply List:  1 “3 Pack” General Charcoal Pencils (Either “Traditional Wood” or “Peel and Sketch”); 1 Pack of Vine Charcoal; 1 Pack of Compressed Charcoal; 1 Kneaded Eraser; 1 Chamois cloth; Tortillion Blending Stumps; 1 Exacto blade; 1 sheet of fine sandpaper; 1 18x24 Drawing Pad series 300 or 400 paper; Krylon Workable Fixative.
Classical painting techniques are taught in this class using the proven methods of Renaissance Masters and 19th century French Ateliers.  Working with a limited pallet, students will learn color mixing, brushwork, and edge control in this six-week course. Similar to the Classical Drawing course, students will start with beginning exercises, and progress to chiaroscuro shapes and cast painting, eventually leading to painting from a live, clothed model. Supply List: 6- 9x12 Canvases; Oil Paints (1 Tube of 37 ml Titanium White, 1 Tube of 37 ml Ivory Black, 1 Tube of 37 ml Yellow Ochre, 1 Tube of 37 ml Terra Rosa or Burnt Sienna, 1 Tube of 37 ml Ultramarine Blue, OPTIONAL COLORS:  1 Tube of 37 ml Viridian Green, 1 Tube of 37 ml Cadmium Red); Gesso; White Taklon Paint Brushes - 10 Piece Set; Palette Knife; Paper Towels Roll; Palette Paper pad or Roll of wax paper; Silicoil Brush Cleaning Tank; Liquin; Turpenoid.
