We live in a fast-paced world where technology touches everyone. You most likely use a computer for your work. Upskilling and polishing your computer literacy can significantly increase your desirability to employers. For employers and employees alike, you will be amazed at how efficient the team runs when they learn to use programs correctly. GCSC Continuing Education offers a variety of classes to fit into your schedule. The following classes are offered both online and face-to-face. Customize your learning environment and schedule while boosting your career advancement opportunities!

Welcome to Computer Basics

In this course, participants will explore Microsoft’s newest operating system, Windows 10. Participants will explore program controls, and menus, working with the Start menu (it’s back!), using the taskbar, and basic word processing. You will start programs, create a Microsoft account, work with apps, and use email. A critical skill for all computer work is learning how and where to save files, so in Unit 2, participants will tackle file management and save files and create folders on the local PC and in the cloud. In unit 3, you will learn best practices for using the Internet. You will use Microsoft’s new web browser, Microsoft Edge, and focus on effective searches and how to protect against Internet threats. You will also use the Outlook and Word online apps as well as OneDrive. Finally, you will learn to manage settings and preferences within Windows 10. Textbook included.

Beginning MS Excel 2021 & 365

Microsoft Excel 2021 & 365: Level 1 covers key introductory Excel skills. Among others, topics in Level 1 include entering, editing, and formatting entries; selecting cells and ranges; creating and modifying basic formulas; inserting charts and tables; creating a template; and sorting and filtering data. Textbook included. Pre-requisite: Basic computer skills.

Intermediate MS Excel 2021 & 365

Microsoft Excel 2021 & 365: Level 2 covers key intermediate Excel skills. Among others, topics in Level 2 include themes, cell styles, and number formats, as well as functions for dates, numbers, and text.  Textbook included. Pre-requisites: Basic computer skills.

QuickBooks Online:  Comprehensive

QuickBooks Online: Comprehensive provides essential coverage of QuickBooks Online for employees, company owners, accountants, and others to effectively use the software for all of their small-business accounting needs. QuickBooks is an accounting software that aids in keeping financial statements in order. This course is optimized for hands-on learning. Exercise progression provides various levels of reinforcement exercises that allow students to demonstrate their ability to apply the concepts and skills to real-world scenarios. A textbook is included in the course. Participants registered after Oct. 9, 2024, will receive a digital copy of the textbook.
