Range Practice for Handgun Owners

Bring your Handgun and Ammo for Four Hours of Range Practice time.

  • Our safe, covered, and well lit shooting range offers 20 firing points for practice. 
  • Targets are provided and eye protection is provided.
  • REQUIRED: A copy of a certificate that you have attended a Basic Safety Handgun course with actual range time, or a Concealed Firearms Permit.
  • A certified instructor is present.
  • Participants must provide their own firearm (approved by the certified instructor) and factory ammunition.
  • Approved holsters are acceptable (no shoulder holsters!).
  • Participants must wear sensible shoes and comfortable clothing (no loose clothing), and a bibbed hat (baseball type hat).
  • Bring water and bug spray for evening classes.
  • Class limit 12.

AR-15 Civilian Training and Range Experience

This is a four-hour familiarization Or Refresher course. You will learn the skills of how to handle and operate an AR-15.

  • Students will review gun safety, ammunition, cleaning and accessory set up for an AR 15 in a climate controlled classroom.
  • Students will refine their skills and become more proficient for self-defense purposes.
  • Students will perform various practice tactical drills to improve marksmanship on an outdoor firing range.

This course is appropriate for someone over the age of 18 years old, who owns an AR-15 and needs to sharpen their skills or has no carbine experience. It can also serve as a good refresher course with practice at an outdoor firing range.

  • Students must be eligible to own and/or possess a firearm in FL. (info found in Florida State Statute 790).
  • Students should bring their own AR-15 that is in good working order.
  • Student must bring a minimum of 80 rounds of only factory ammunition.
  • We will provide the hearing and eye protection if you do not own your own.
  • Students should wear loose fitting clothing with a shirt that buttons up to the neck or that has a high neckline (no open collars allowed on the range for safety).
  • Student must bring Visor or brimmed Hat.
  • Student must wear good comfortable shoes.
  • Students may also want to bring drinking water, personal sun block, bug repellent, and rain attire.

Shotgun Civilian training & range experience

This four-hour class offers comprehensive defensive situation training for The experienced and new shotgun owners. 

This course is appropriate for someone over the age of 18 years old, who owns a shotgun and needs to sharpen their skills or has no training in the use if a shotgun. It can also serve as a good refresher course with practice at an outdoor firing range.  Topics covered with include basic knowledge and skills necessary to safely handle, load, fire and unload a pump action shotgun.

Students will be taught shotgun manipulation drills and range exercises in order to gain an ease in the handling and firing of this weapon.

  • Students must be eligible to own and/or possess a firearm in FL. (info found in Florida State Statute 790).
  • Students should bring their own shotgun that is in good working order.
  • Student must bring a minimum of 80 rounds of only factory ammunition.
  • We will provide the hearing and eye protection if you do not own your own.
  • Students should wear loose fitting clothing with a shirt that buttons up to the neck or that has a high neckline (no open collars allowed on the range for safety).

Advanced Civilian Handgun Training & Trauma Wound Response

This eight-hour class offers comprehensive training for experienced gun owners. 

The class is held from 8:00 am-4:00 pm.  This class is held in air conditioned surroundings except for the live fire range practice portion.

Students must have documented proof that they have taken either the Firearms Education and Familiarization Course or an equivalent Basic Firearms Course for Civilians prior to admission into this course. 

What you will learn

Participants in the class will:

  • Increase skill sets in critical decision making and reasonable responses;
  • Sharpen targeting proficiency, practice drawing from a holster and fire while moving;
  • Experience a real-life threat scenario;
  • Learn Trauma Wound Response techniques such as stop the hemorrhage of an artery, proper tourniquets and much more, that could save family, friends or a stranger; and
  • Know how to assemble Trauma Wound Response kits for a car, home and business.

Instructional methods

Advanced Civilian Handgun Training is personalized* for your needs by using:

  • An immersive "state of the art" Ti RECON® laser simulator with over 600 scenarios to train civilians in critical decision making and proper responses to:

    ∼ threats in home or business defense,

    ∼ an active shooter in a school or medical environment,

    ∼ defensive training for house of worship situations or other large events,

    ∼ simulated ambushes and attacks.
  • Live Fire practice on an outdoor range. 
  • A review of Florida handgun laws including "reasonable and necessary use of force" and the Castle Doctrine.
  • Classroom demonstrations for Trauma Wound Response led by certified Basic Life Support instructors.

WHAT TO BRING

Provide your own Weapon and ammunition, Minimum 100 rounds of Ammunition, Gun Cleaning equipment, Eye and Ear Protection.

  • Students must be eligible to own and/or possess a firearm in FL. (info found in Florida State Statute 790).
  • Students must bring a handgun (semi-auto pistol or revolver) in good working order.
  • Student must bring 100 rounds of factory ammunition (no reloads) per person.
  • Student must bring Holster for shooting while on the firing line (no shoulder holsters, gun bag, or gun cases will be allowed for shooting from the line).
  • Student must bring clear eye protection and hearing protection (ear plugs and or muffs).
  • Student must bring Visor or brimmed Hat.
  • Students should wear loose fitting clothing with a shirt that buttons up to the neck or that has a high neckline (no open collars allowed on the range for safety).
  • Student must wear good comfortable shoes.
  • Students may also want to bring drinking water, personal sun block, bug repellent, and rain attire for live fire range practice.

Basic Civilian Handgun Training

This is a four-hour basic firearms course. There are no prerequisites for this class.  
No experience is necessary.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

In this class, students are trained in gun safety and laws pertaining to firearms. Instructors then provide individual training and critiques to each student in firing a weapon at various distances on our Live Fire outdoor practice range. If you have a weapon bring it, or try one of many types we have for your use. Learn what type of firearm will work best for your hand strength, grip and comfort, before you make an expensive purchase.

*Upon completion of this course you’ll receive the Certificate of Handgun Training required by the FL Dept. of Agriculture to include as part of your application for a Concealed Weapon Permit.

HR-218 / Retired Police Officer Training

This is a Two-hour firearms course for Retired Law Enforcement Officer.

Students will learn about current laws pertaining to retire police officer firearms carry, best management practices for safe and responsible gun handling and ownership.

The student is also required to pass a 40-round FDLE Qualification Course of fire before being issued an annual permit. Basic Requalification (40 round course of Fire).

Current information provided on House Bill 218 and with qualification card issued.

Shooter must provide valid Identification card with current address and Retirement Credentials from your agency.

Shooter must provide the weapon and ammunition you intend to qualify with, Minimum 50 rounds of Ammunition per weapon per qualification,

MAXIMUM of (2) attempts to qualify, limited to two weapons (semi-auto, revolver), Eye, Ear Protection and holster is required, Gun Cleaning equipment optional with an area for cleaning the weapon provided.

Basic Civilian Handgun REFRESHER Training

This is a two-hour basic firearms course. There are no prerequisites for this class. Students will learn about laws pertaining to firearms and gain hands-on experience in firing a weapon.

Civilian Basic RIFLE Course

This is a four-hour familiarization course. You will learn the skills of how to handle and operate a rifle. This course is appropriate for someone who is interested in owning a rifle and has little or no training in using a rifle. It can also serve as a good refresher course.

  • Student should bring their own rifles or we will lend a rifle.
  • Student must 100 rounds (5 boxes) of .223 caliber factory ammunition only.
  • We will provide the hearing and eye protection if you do not own your own.
  • Student must bring Visor or brimmed Hat.
  • Student must wear good comfortable shoes.
  • Students may also want to bring drinking water, personal sun block, bug repellent, and rain attire.
