In the effort to increase professionalism, Section 943.17, F.S., mandates an examination for basic recruit training graduates and candidates seeking an exemption from the basic recruit program. The certification examination provides the Commission and the citizens of Florida with assurance that each person employed or appointed as a sworn officer in this State possesses the minimum knowledge required to perform competently. The following persons are eligible to take the examination: Persons who have completed a Commission-approved law enforcement, correctional or correctional probation basic recruit training program or cross-training program within the past four years; persons qualifying for reinstatement of expired training or certification who have completed the required training for reinstatement; persons approved for an exemption from completing the Commission approved basic recruit training course.

You can obtain information about test dates and locations and register for the exam at   the PearsonVue Website.
