This program is designed to help you qualify to obtain a Licensed Practical Nurse's license in the State of Florida. Upon completion of the program, which consists of 1,350 hours of study, you will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN (National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses). At Gulf Coast State College, this program is available only at the Gulf/Franklin Campus in Port St. Joe, Florida.
In this program, the practical nurse student learns to give patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. The student will acquire skills and knowledge necessary to give safe and effective care to patients in a variety of settings.
The Practical Nursing program is a selective admission, limited enrollment program. Admission to Gulf Coast State College does not imply acceptance into the Practical Nursing Program.
Effective January 2019, the Practical Nursing program has been placed on probation by FBON for failure to maintain the required certification exam pass rate. Please refer questions to the program coordinator.
