A deferment extends your tuition and fee payment deadline past published due dates. Financial aid that you are fully approved for automatically defers your tuition and fees. This type of a deferment is called "authorized" financial aid and it may be viewed on your student account in Lighthouse.
Students who aren't fully approved for enough financial aid to automatically defer their tuition and fees may send an email to FA@GULFCOAST.EDU (from their official student address) or visit the financial aid office in person to request a "financial aid" deferment. Financial aid deferment requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis per Florida Statute 1009.27 and Gulf Coast State College Manual of Policy (MOP) 7.022. If you are approved for such a deferment but your financial aid does not eventually disburse by your deferment's due date then you are immediately responsible for all outstanding tuition and fee charges.
